Pyro Army Searchlight Truck

Almost forgot I had these photos ready to post! Here's another of Pyro's hard plastic Army trucks, the Searchlight Truck. This too is missing the sitting figure which would have been attached to the base of the light housing by a spindly bridge of plastic. Like so many other trucks of its kind, the figure with its seat and connecting piece have broken off. The truck measures 5 1/8" (13.01cm) L x 2" (5.08cm) W x 3 1/4" (8.25cm) H. Enjoy! Pyro Army DUKW

Welllll, here we finally have a proper DUKW, not a SEEP posing as a DUKW like we posted last week. The Pyro DUKW, as you can see by the photos below, resembles the actual vehicle far more than Ideal's. The Pyro version measures 7 1/2" (19.05cm) L x 2 3/4" (6.98cm) W x 1 7/8" (4.76cm) H and includes two of their sitting lumps of plastic posing as soldiers. This is the last of my Pyro vehicles but there are several more in the series which I don't yet have like the sound truck and radar plus one or two more. Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina

Thomas Toy Torpedo Firing Submarine

As a collector I never considered myself a 'boat guy', although in retrospect a whole bunch of ships and boats made their way into the collection anyway. That mindset has changed somewhat and I find myself being smitten by those small boats often sold as bin toys or perhaps the smaller cereal premiums and I hope to post some more before long. As for submarines I don't remember having any as a kid except for, I believe (and we're working with a faint memory here), I had an Ideal sub that used baking powder to make it lower and rise in the water. Well anywho, to make a long story longer I've sorta/kinda been wanting a sub now for several years and recently took the plunge by latching on to this beautiful little Thomas Toy affair with torpedo. I don't know if this was a part of a larger playset. It's a great piece that, with wheels on the bottom, doesn't rely on having to put in water to play with. The sub has a pivoting deck gun and measures 11 5/8" (30.16cm) L x 1 1/2" (3.81cm) W x 1 5/8" (4.12cm) H Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina
