Linemar X-15

Now here's a little gem of an aircraft from Linemar of Japan. Linemar was a Marx subsidiary and specialized in tin-litho toys of all sorts, many of which were included in Marx playsets. This X-15 was included in the Sears giant Jetport set of 1960 and what a set that was. For a whopping $6.88 you got a beautiful tin-litho terminal and two tin-litho hangars, two propeller airliners and two jet airliners, plus a plethora of military and civilian aircraft in plastic and tin-litho. A crowd of 48 people, airport support vehicles, cars, and a multitude of accessories round out this wonderful playset. It is one of Marx's finest efforts to be sure!

The playset included both a plastic and tin-litho version of NASA's venerable X-15 test plane, the tin-litho version being the largest of the two at 6 1/2 ' (16.5cm) L x 4" (10.2cm) wingspan x 1 5/8" (4.1cm) H. Unlike many tin aircraft toys of the period, this X-15 had a unified wing-fuselage structure (so many of the toy jets back then had separate wing assemblies which then fit onto the fuselage)and the friction motor is attached externally beneath the fuselage.Last Es euch gefallen Enjoy from The Berg's :)
