Corgi 1982 #128 Fred Flintstone

Well, we've finally finished with the Post Cereal set of Flintstones 'flats'. It was a nice series and a terrific addition to any miniature Town of Bedrock but for the next few weeks Toys & Stuff will go from plastic to die cast. Corgi has always been a popular toy company and their series of die cast vehicles has always been a hit but it seems like a couple of their lines really hit a nerve with collectors, like the Batmobile/Batboat series and this Flintstones series. Made in 1982/83, these little boogers get to be quite pricey but every now and then We luck out and get things for less than the going rate. One can expect to pay at least $30 for an out-of-the-package (a/k/a uncarded) vehicle in very good shape! And I've seen crummy ones go for more. But again, there are active and lull periods in collecting and I was fortunate to hit the lull. This lull allowed me to get carded and uncarded vehicles for a reasonable cost and thus allow me to present them to you.
For some reason Corgi only made cars with Fred, Wilma, and Barney. Poor Betty seems to have gotten left out of the fun and Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm are still too young to drive. Oh well. All three die cast cars are favorably sized to work well with the original Marx playset and would look great toolin' down your miniature Town of Bedrock. They don't roll quite as well as Mattel Hot Wheels but they seem sturdy enough to hold up under a lot of play action. So let's take a look at our first in the series - Fred Flintstone.
