Wyandotte 1930s Buck Rogers Space Ship

Today we have a really cool vintage space ship. Not just a modern toy with vintage styling but a vintage toy with vintage styling - the Wyandotte Buck Rogers Space Ship from the 1930s. Unfortunately that's all I know about it. Every time I see this offered on fleaBay it's referred to as a Buck Rogers Space Ship, not Flash Gordon. The styling is most definitely 1930s and Wyandotte at the time was known for its sturdy pressed steel toys. Later they would have some nice tin-litho offerings but pressed steel was their forte'. It measures 6 1/4" (15.9cm) L x 2 1/2" (6.4cm) H x 2 1/2" (6.4cm) W and has three revolving wheels in a tricycle gear arrangement. It's a terrific addition to any vintage space fleet! Enjoy!

Here's the Wyandotte space ship next to one of the Gear Box Buck Rogers space ships.

The diorama would have looked a lot cooler with some vintage spacemen but I didn't feel like hunting for them in The Cave :-)

Corgi 1982 #151 Wilma Flintstone

Well, now that I'm pretty much over the head cold I can get back on track with the Corgi Flintstones stuff. Today is the last of three die cast vehicles they made for the Flintstones; the # 151 Wilma Flintstones car. It's copyright 1981 which means it probably didn't see store shelves until '82. The three cars in the series are nice but I have to wonder why they never bothered to put Betty behind the wheel?! Did she not yet have her driver's license? Was she a danger on the road? We'll never know, but it just seems rather unfair. Without further ado - heeeeeeere's Wilma! Enjoy!

Modern Toys Antique Pick-Up Truck

Sometimes fortune favors the foolish. Such was the case with this little gem. I had bought a real nice set of Linemar cars from a seller on eBay and when the package arrived this truck was in it along with the boxed set of vehicles. Having thought it was a packing error (which has happened to me before) I contacted the seller who said he simply didn't need it anymore! Whoopee!! Many Thanx sir!
There are a couple of small flaws, like one missing hubcap and a missing tailgate, but overall it's a real nice piece. I'm ascribing this to Modern Toys simply as an educated guess. Measuring 6 1/4" (15.9cm) L x 4" (10.2cm) H x 2 3/4" (7cm) W, the size is right for their line and they made a whole range of toys styled after early 1900s vehicles. If anyone knows for sure that it was made by someone else please let me know. Enjoy!

TRAIN TIME: USPS Trains & Locomotives Post Card Series 1999 - Card 13

Records are meant to be broken and pulling more than 100 cars during railroadings' infancy was a milestone which the Gowan & Marx  broke in 1840 by pulling 101 cars. Enjoy!
